Ironic

What is ironic? The fact that the government, media and general public are trying to quash Singlish. My take? I love Singlish and swear by it. I feel totally at ease using it with friends... just like wearing a well-tailored suit.
Please... its the only truly Singaporean entity... one that all Singaporeans relate to, use and makes us recognisable... none of that manufactured "Singaporean" things like the Merlion or the terribly dumb Merlio*.
Don't blame Singlish for the poor English written and spoken by Singaporeans. I speak and write excellent English. Just know when to turn it on and off where applicable.
Bo chap lah!!! Die die must continue speaking Singlish.
