What happened to Boon Lay???

Was waiting for an eBay buyer at the MRT. The chap was late by 20 minutes so I had nothing better to do but twiddle my thumbs. While waiting, I noticed that Boon Lay was no longer listed on the LCD monitor at the station... instead it read "Joo Koon"??? WTH???
Sorry for the blurry pic but since when did SMRT extend the West line with 2 new stations (ie. Pioneer and Joo Koon)??? I read the news daily and everybody knows about the Circle line but where was the publicity about the West extension? I'm still confused.
My Googlefu led me to this press release. The Boon Lay Extension (BLE) commenced operations on 28 February 2009. Wah... talk about being oblivious.

Mac botnet

Mac Trojan converts infected Mac OS X systems into bots. The method of infection is through pirated copies of Mac software. Evidence that malware writers have turned their sights to Mac.

Twitter worm

Talk about industrial espionage. Owner of StalkDaily, Twitter's competitor, created a worm that exploits a XSS vulnerability in Twitter to propagate thus infecting its users. Twitter is planning legal action.

Puddles

Pockets of water trapped by the wooden flooring panels and creating a mirror image of the landscape.

Graciousness?

People are always criticizing Singaporeans for lacking graciousness... enough with the Singaporean bashing!!! Foreigners aren't any more gracious than we are ok? Here are mud stains left by Chinese PRC foreign workers who chose to squat on the marble bus stop seats while waiting for their bus to arrive. So inconsiderate!!! This is at 7+am so now nobody can sit on them for the rest of the day.

SAM

Fellow photographer taking my image. Lunch at a HK cafe at IMM.

SAM exterior. Embarrassing to admit... it was my first time inside SAM.

South Asian inspired art. Some of the fixtures ended up more interesting than the artwork themselves.

Club St

Club Street has numerous quirky shops. Its an interesting place to check out. View from the A.P.C. boutique.

At street level.

Relief

The Blackburn game started horribly. Big Sam started the game with defensive players filling the midfield and thus resulting in the team pumping the ball to the poor strikers. Not to mention the horrid game the referee was having and he gave a lame penalty to Spurs for my beloved team to go 1-0 down.
Could Rovers make a comeback? It wasn't looking likely until the manager replaced the hapless Jason Roberts upfront with Samba deployed as an emergency striker. He also replaced the hopeless Mokoena with Dunn and partnered him with Tugay. The 2 ball playing midfielders started controlling the pace of the game and 2 goals in the last 10 minutes gives Rovers a vital win to avoid them sliding back into the relegation zone.
*phew*

Rootkits

A rootkit is defined as "malware that consists of a program or combination of several programs, designed to hide or obscure the fact that a system has been compromised". They hide in your compromised system by replacing critical system files and obfuscate their presence through hidden processes. Antivirus engines are not designed to uncover rootkits.
Attended a talk yesterday by Dr. Eugene Schultz on this topic. He shared that though rootkits aim to be elusive... there are tell-tale signs or discrepancies that will expose them. One example he gave is that a rootkit may be able to disguise a hidden process triggered by it and thus not show when you run "netstat"... but you can detect that hidden process at the network layer by scanning the compromised system to discover the listening port opened by that said hidden process. Way cool!!!
He recommended GMER... a powerful rootkit detector. I did some research of my own and found a free rookit detector from Sophos and another for Linux/*BSD.

Friction?

"Capello also requested that the badge on the new England shirt be put higher than usual to avoid rubbing on players' nipples."
Haha!!!

"You have to be on the pitch to play football."
DUH!!!
