Max Payne

I'm a die-hard fan of the computer game, Max Payne 2. That is the reason that prompted me to catch the movie. My review? The pace is tad too slow for me. The action sequences were few and came quite late into the movie. The game story-line is rich and there's the forbidden love between Max and Mona Sax. Mona was given too little airtime and appeared nothing more than an accessory in the movie. The game is renown for "Bullet Time" and the use of painkillers to reduce his pain. I could only recall 2 short scenes modeled after "Bullet Time" and painkillers were replaced with a lame serum. The writers and director failed to fully exploit and build on the material from the game. Disappointed? You betcha.

Flickr is full of pictures taken at Changi T3. Went down last weekend to check out what the fuss is all about.

Too much... too soon

Paul Ince is trying to make wholesale changes to the Blackburn team but I think its too much... too soon. Rovers showed their strength and familiarity in the first game of the season by winning 3-2 with a last grasp goal with the last kick of the game. Since then, its been changes galore and the team has struggled to perform. Injuries to David Dunn and Steven Reid hasn't helped... but dropping Gamst Pedersen and not even putting him on the bench is suicide. We're trailing Boro of all teams at home but Rovers do not even look like a team playing at home. I'm not one to ask for managers' heads after 9 games into the season... but Paul Ince is really testing my patience.
Update: Benni McCarthy scores a last minute goal to equalise for Rovers. I wasn't expecting a point based on the team's performance but I will take it. I wish that Ince had been more positive from the beginning of the game.

Larger than life

Its been years since his retirement... but I still remember his confident swagger.

Spurs jokes

Jokes about Tottenham Hotspurs' current situation* extracted from BBC's website.
"London Underground wish to apologise for the severe points failure in the Tottenham area."

"David Blaine was gutted to hear that his record of 48 days in the box doing absolutely nothing has been broken by Darren Bent."

"What's the difference between Father Christmas and a Spurs win? Some people actually believe Father Christmas exists."

"Darren Bent is ill, so Juande Ramos offers to do his shopping for him. While in Sainsbury's he bumps into Arsene Wenger. 'What are you doing in here, Juande?' asks Wenger. 'Getting a bag of potatoes for Darren Bent,' he replies. 'Sounds like a good swap to me,' says Wenger."

I hate to gloat but David Bentley made a serious mistake leaving Blackburn for another team outside of the "Big Four".

* At the time of posting, Spurs has 2 points (out of a possible 24) from 8 league games.

Art?

Efforts are being made to cultivate creativity in Singaporeans and mold them into more cultured people. This is evidenced by the remake of our museums, a slew of cultural activities and the presence of Art in prominent places.
Made a trip back to Rowell Road today. Managed to check out the "Mutant Style" exhibit in a quaint old skool shophouse. A nice chap, Terence, opened the doors to welcome me in. Nice lamp... but too pricey at S$600.

Mas Selamat inspired art. I picked up the box and it was empty. I asked "Does it come with the toy inside?". Terence replied "Where is Mas Selamat now?". Aaaaaaah. I initially intended to buy the toy before my visit but I'm not paying S$25 for an empty box.

Fascinating!

Trivia. Who scored the Champions League's fastest hat-trick? Hint. This record is proudly owned by a former Blackburn Rovers player. Alan Shearer???

Surprise... surprise. The answer is Mike Newell. He achieved that feat against Rosenberg in 9 minutes on 6th December 1995.

Insult?

Should Apple be insulted that their users are installing Windows on their laptops instead of using the native Mac OS X? They're probably laughing to the bank at the fools who pay premium prices for their inferior products to be used as Windows machines.

Prominent targets

First it was Sarah Palin having her private email account accessed without permission... now its Sarkozy whose online banking account was compromised. Politicians are fast becoming a popular target since they are constantly in the limelight.

Cultural Saturday

Went down to Rowell Road looking for a place called "The Other Side". Missed it because I was distracted by the "Museum of Shanghai Toys". It was closed because they were changing exhibits and ended up forgetting about "The Other Side". Haha. Guess I have to make follow-up trips to this lane.

Walked from Rowell to the National Museum and captured images along the way.

SAM.

National Museum. Started pouring while I was admiring the "Weapons of Mass Desire", Chang Chien Chi and food exhibits.
