*drools*

Saw this at Sim Lim today. Fell in love with it instantly but stopped myself from grabbing it on the spot. Why? Its a whopping S$133. I will sell my Macbook first so that I have the dough to get this baby.

"Switch on"

Attended a full day HR training today. Woke up feeling negative since it was a Saturday and I value my weekends. The trainer engaged was an external consultant. He preached about turning on a mental switch to be positive (ie. "switch on"). Was it coincidence or fate that I needed to hear this? The content he shared may not be rocket science but it had a profound effect on me. One of the quotes he shared was "to be unhappy is natural". This struck a cord with me as I have been very dispirited since March and I've struggled to be happy.
He showed numerous inspirational videos and this was one of them.

I have decided to do away with negative thoughts but focus on being happy and to help those that I care about. I shall no longer rant on my blog but have added a tag entitled "Positivity" to post about good things that I have done and what others have done for me.

Amazing

Freaking cool themes for Ubuntu. I can't decide between "Balanzan" or "Ubuntu sunrise".

Bromance

I only know a handful of Malaysian guys but the few of them convinced me that Malaysian men are the worst choice for a "bromance". They are self-involved, selfish, unreliable and have an inferiority complex. This makes them lousy male friends and nasty too because they try to make you feel bad about yourself to boost their own ego.

Interference

Scary to imagine a normal TV antenna interfering with planes.

Ubuntu bug #1

Ubuntu lists in their bug tracking system "Microsoft has a majority market share" as its #1 bug. Demonstrates their humour and ambition. Good luck to them. I've tried to do my part by encouraging adoption of Ubuntu. I performed demonstrations and installations for friends but to no avail. Windows is too ingrained in the minds of the typical user. Another barrier is the unavailability of computer games that can be played on Linux.

Its not different... its just new

This phrase really struck a chord with me. No relationship is perfect and it requires both parties to put in effort to make it work. That's why it still hurts that she gave up our 7 year relationship for that Frenchman.

Once Armour, Always Armour

I'm a tank technician and have been around armoured vehicles for years. Guess that's why I'm drawn to and am proficient in using tanks in "Battlefield Heroes"?

Bluetooth annoyance

There's this minor bug in Ubuntu 9.0.4 where it doesn't permanently disable Bluetooth on my Thinkpad T60 everytime I boot up. It was quite annoying having to manually disable it from the "Bluetooth Preferences" window everytime I log in but I have found a way to resolve this.
  1. Navigate to "/etc/modprobe.d/".
  2. Edit the file "thinkpad_acpi.modprobe". If the file does not exist, create it.
  3. Add this line.
options thinkpad_acpi experimental=1 hotkey=enable,0xffff8f bluetooth=disable

Blue?

I dyed my hair blue. Well... dark blue to be exact... to cover up all the white hair that is a result of the shit that happened over the past 6 months. Its not very obvious to the human eye but at least I can strike off an item off my bucket list.

Virtual disk resize

My Windows Vista virtual machine keeps running out of disk space so I had to resize it. Run the following command to expand.

C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Workstation>vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -x 10GB "e:\V
irtual Machines\Windows 7\Windows 7.vmdk"
Grow: 100% done.
Disk expansion completed successfully.

WARNING: If the virtual disk is partitioned, you must use a third-party
utility in the virtual machine to expand the size of the
partitions. For more information, see:

Ubuntu upgrade

Upgrading Ubuntu is painless. Launch your terminal. Enter "update-manager -d". Click "Upgrade" in the "Update Manager". Click "Upgrade" again when presented with the release notes. The upgrade packages will start downloading and be installed.

As simple as ABC.
