Beijing day 5

Road leading to Fragrant Hills Park. "Mend the glass"... haha. Uncle roasting corn along the road. Grumpy old lady who shouted at us. Fragrant Hills Park is famous for its Smoke Trees whose leaves turn a fiery red in Autumn... went there with high expectations but turned out that we were too early and the leaves had not changed colour yet. Nothing much to see there except plants and people. A tad disappointing.

Random doorway. Stray broom.

National Centre for the Performing Arts.

"Gate of Heavenly Peace" from a distance. 人山人海. Soldiers on alert. "Gate of Heavenly Peace" facade. April celebrating China's National Day. Mao Zedong.

Soldiers marching along Tiananmen Square. Foggy Tiananmen Square and the "Monument to the People's Heroes" at the center. "Mao Zedong Mausoleum" and other buildings in the vicinity.

On the way to the Olympic park. The "National Stadium" aka "Bird's Nest" from across a highway. Commercial buildings facing the park. "Bird's Nest". Garden lamp. "National Aquatics Center" aka "Water Cube". Statue of a lady wearing traditional clothing using a sword as a Pool Cue. Blue hue from the "Water Cube". View from a public car park.
