Damn birds!!!

I was rudely awoken by what seemed like a humongous flock of birds chirping outside my bedroom window today. Bloody annoying!!! Reminded me of this picture I took previously. Poladroided!!!

I started "poladroiding" more images I took previously. Who said poor lighting and over-exposure is ugly? I love them!!!

Nostalgia

I'm a sentimental and nostalgic person. Not sure if that is a good trait. Its a pity that nothing lasts forever and they eventually become distant memories.
Polaroid announced that they are ceasing production of their cameras and now people are rushing to grab their films before they run out. I discovered this cool software called "Poladroid" that renders your digital images to give them Polaroid-like feel.
I'm crap with photo editing. Here is my attempt at popping the same pic. What do you think? Its a poor cousin of this amazing pic.

XP hangs

I use Ubuntu about 95% of the time nowadays. I only switch to XP when needed on rare occasions so it annoys me like hell each and every time XP hangs when I right click an icon from the desktop.
Did some troubleshooting and a process called "ctfmon" is the culprit. To disable "ctfmon", click on "Start">"Control Panel">"Regional and language options". Access the "Languages" tab and click "Details". Go to the "Advanced" tab and check "Turn off advanced text services".
Annoyance resolved.The phantom hanging returned! More troubleshooting and it turned out to be the fault of Eraser v5.8.7. Uninstalling it and reinstalling v5.7 of Eraser seemed to resolve the hanging.

Ubuntu basics

Convinced Jux to switch over to Ubuntu and at her request, I wrote a simple guide to using and maintaining the OS. Decided to make it available and hope that it encourages others to switch over.

Man date

Had a "Man date" with KVW today. Haha... just joking dude. Gave him a guided tour around the Raffles Place vicinity and visited Marina Barrage for the 1st time. Not a bad day but couldn't say the same about the gloomy weather.

Night out

I have been cooped up at home since the weekend. Nearly went insane last night and decided to head out for the night. Got my copy of Dan Brown's new novel "The Lost Symbol" which was on sale starting today. Headed to "The Pasta Shop" above Borders for dinner. I love Calpice... its a yummy Jap yogurt drink.

I placed $ on England beating Croatia. It turns out that I marked my ticket wrongly and I ended up giving Croatia 1.5 goals. I made more $ as a result of my mistake. Haha.

Tried this new eatery along Joo Chiat. Had dinner before patronising this place so I opted for a Pear Tart with a Root Beer Float. The tart looked good but the bottom crust was a tad too hard and dry. I like the ambiance though and I may just pay them a 2nd visit.

What is it with female dentists?

Is the word "Sucker" tattooed in my mouth? It seems that all female dentists think I'm a fool that can be taken for a ride. I used to patronise the dentist at NTUC Denticare and she CONvinced me that my Amalgam fillings were poisonous and that I should replace all of them with Fluoride ones. I was later told that what the lady told me was a myth.
Yesterday, I visited Glory Dental for the first time. The female dentist who took my case started trying to sell me all sorts of expensive treatments. She hinted that I should get braces to correct my Buck teeth. She also recommended I get an expensive mouth guard to wear to sleep because I grind my teeth when I sleep.
WTF. I don't print money ok?

Prawn noodles anyone?

Finally got a taste of the prawn mee from "Wah Kee" which I heard about from "Makan Places: Lost & Found". Hmmmmm... it wasn't exactly what I expected but it was decent. Turns out that what I ordered was their "normal" prawn mee and not their trademark dish. Their signature dish is their S$25 Tiger prawn noodle. DOH!!! Guess there's always a next time.

The jury is still out on their "normal" prawn mee... I prefer the one from "The Old Stall" at Hong Lim Complex.
