Did some troubleshooting and a process called "ctfmon" is the culprit. To disable "ctfmon", click on "Start">"Control Panel">"Regional and language options". Access the "Languages" tab and click "Details". Go to the "Advanced" tab and check "Turn off advanced text services".

XP hangs
I use Ubuntu about 95% of the time nowadays. I only switch to XP when needed on rare occasions so it annoys me like hell each and every time XP hangs when I right click an icon from the desktop.
Did some troubleshooting and a process called "ctfmon" is the culprit. To disable "ctfmon", click on "Start">"Control Panel">"Regional and language options". Access the "Languages" tab and click "Details". Go to the "Advanced" tab and check "Turn off advanced text services".
Annoyance resolved. The phantom hanging returned! More troubleshooting and it turned out to be the fault of Eraser v5.8.7. Uninstalling it and reinstalling v5.7 of Eraser seemed to resolve the hanging.
