HK cafes seem to be sprouting everywhere. Jim introduced another one for dinner today. Check out the menu that has a scene of HK on its cover. The food? Not bad but prefer the one in East Coast leh.

Do you qualify?
Superman Returns
Watched "Superman Returns" today. Wow... it was almost 3 hours long but the climax of the movie which had Superman tackling the "crisis" was pretty lame. Can't complain though... the movie was free. Haha.
Trivia: Most of the characters in Superman share the initials LL. Examples include Lex Luthor, Lionel Luthor, Lena Luthor, Lois Lane and Lana Lang. What's this obsession with LL?

Another one
Nike had a Brazilian nickname generator on their football merchandise website previously. The Sushiman pointed me to this one. Its World Cup fever now so create your own Brazilian name for the fun of it. Btw... mine's Mildo. Hahahahaha. Still don't think Brazil will win it.

Suay!!!
Football can be such a cruel game. Today's game was another perfect example. A penalty that wasn't but given in the last minute. Man... the Aussies were really hard done by the referee. He deserves a red card for that mistake.
If I were in his shoes, I would never have given that penalty. The standard of refereeing in this World Cup has made me think of taking up the Referees' Basic Course conducted by FAS.

Day version
Early morning
I was up watching Portugal vs Holland at 3am. The sky was still dark but I managed to catch a glimpse of clouds in the background. The match was astonishing becoz it was one of the most hot-tempered and violent matches I have ever witnessed sans the use of pipes and bricks with four red cards given, more than 10 players getting yellow cards, head butts dished out and bodies being flung all over the place.
The sky was glorious on the way to work. Admire the beautiful clouds.

Surreal
I was on my way to work this morning by train as usual. Nodded off on the train along the tunnel section of my journey... when I was awoken by the loud sound of rushing water. I opened my eyes and took a peek out the train door and was shocked to see that Novena station (which is underground) was flooded!!! Saw a few MRT staff walking around with their trousers rolled up... also saw passengers tip-toeing their way around the station.

Been awhile
Its been 7 months since I last bought CDs and they were birthday pressies for myself. Couldn't resist the temptation today becoz one was the latest album from Oakenfold and the other from "Snow Patrol". My review for this Oakenfold album... what can I say, I'm biaised becoz I love anything from this DJ that is his own work... none of that remix other people's crap... he stinks when he does that. Verdict: Great music to hack to and is up there with his previous album, Bunkka. "Die die must buy".
Snow Patrol is a Scottish band that many may not have heard of. The songs in this album have a good mixture of vocals, guitar and drums. "Must buy".

Resigned
*sigh* Its hard being a Rovers fan... tough fighting it out in the Premier League without the resources that the big clubs have. Just when we found our saviour in Bellamy... Liverpool comes along and kicks us in the balls. Ouch... Liverpool is attempting to sign Bellamy and I don't think they will fail. After a successful season where we qualified for a UEFA Cup spot, I think we will be fighting off relegation in the upcoming season. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. Frustrating.

Today's date is unique in case you guys didn't realise. Anyways... had German sausage for lunch again but with an additional piece of pork loin and potatoes. Mmmmmmm.... wunderbar. The taxi broke down on CTE on the way back to the office. Poor Sushiman and I had to walk to the nearest exit to take another cab.
The sausages were the highlight of my day as I was brought down to Earth after lunch. I've been with my current company for more than a year but the company, culture and people continue to astonish me. An example is the fact that management forces us to organise recreational activities for ourselves and we have to fork out $$$ for these activities. Reminds me of the Army where things are frequently forced upon us.
Today, there was another event that shocked me. We have a fridge in our department but it has recently been declared illegal as it is not certified and has to be removed. Some brilliant guy comes up with the suggestion that we buy a certified one for S$200 and split the cost. That doesn't take the cake yet. The new fridge will become company property even though it is paid for by employees!!! WTF.... what bullshit. Who has heard of employees having to buy their own amenities like a fridge? And the item becoming company property? I'm still fuming mad and I cordially rejected to share the cost... I rather go without the !@#$%^&* fridge.

Dumbass!!!
Crouchy decides that the World Cup is too serious for him to perform "The Crouch". What??? Is he damaged up there? I watch England games just in the hope that he does it. Grrrrrrr. Guess I have to settle for watching it on the net. Remix version... check it out.

Sparkling and refreshing
Stroll along Orchard
Went window shopping along Orchard tonite. It wasn't too warm and neither was it crowded so it was quite enjoyable after a long week at work. The Marriot hotel is still quite a sight to behold in the Orchard Rd strip because of its unique roof and its prime location. The other pic was taken in Wheelock Place and I was actually cautioned by their security guard but he didn't make me delete it ;p
Its that time again
Folks... its that time of the month again. What do I mean? In case you didn't already know, M$ now releases patches on a monthy basis and the latest batch are available already. Security researchers (and possibly hackers) have already written exploits for the latest batch of vulns published so quickly patch your systems!!!
On the topic of M$, Bill is going to retire in 2008.

Love-hate relationship
Another game in the World Cup... another goal in the dying minutes. Like I always say "it only takes a second to score a goal". Don't you just love it when your team scores in the last minute to win the game... but on the other hand, its a B*tch when you're on the receiving end. Gotta love Football!!!

Takes the cake
I thot I had seen it all but I witnessed something new today. I was on the train when I noticed a woman who was standing upright. Ok... what is so unusual about this? Everybody does it... but this woman was standing upright with a sleeping mask on and sleeping. Niah liao lor!!!
Oooooooooooooooooooooooh Korea!!!
Man... I love Korea... not the country but the football team. What is it about them? Its their never-say-die attitude and their endless running!!! People are always writing them off but they continue to proof people wrong. They remind me of myself becoz I never had things go my way since young so I have always had to fight for myself.
Their cheers rock too!!! My fav player is Park Ji Sung... the only bad point is that he plays for Man Utd... the team I hate the most. Lee Young Pyo, Lee Chun Soo and Kim Nam Il also make it to my fav list.

"The Once and Future King"
This book was read by Magneto while he was detained in his cell (X-Men 2). It was also referred to by Professor X at the end of the movie. Fascinating... now that my exam is over... I think I will try borrowing this book from the library.
Gloomy
My mood after taking the exam was as gloomy as the sky. But I started to cheer up after finally getting my grubby hands on the famous Taman Serasi Roti John!!! Thanks to Jim for driving us there... we ordered the original and cheese variations. The Roti John was very nice, crispy and tasty. None of that soggy and tasteless crap that most food stalls offer. 5 thumbs up!!!
Later, went to Fenn's place for a World Cup marathon. Watched 3 consecutive live matches in a row!!! Wooooooo. Missed Beckham's freekick that resulted in a goal in the 3rd minute of the first match. Grrrrrrrrrr. Subsequently went through the rest of the match without a goal. The second match between Sweden and T&T was goaless as well. The two matches combined resulted in almost 180 minutes of goaless action. The only highlight was Shamsul's (Singapore Referee) performance in the second match... he easily got the best refereeing performance for the entire night. Fortunately, the third game produced 3 goals in a 2-1 win for Argentina. I was rooting for Ivory Coast though... they were pretty unlucky to lose. Btw Fenn makes a mean Iced Coffee... thanks for the fantastic drink!!!

MIA
I have been Missing In Action (MIA) the past few days as I was preparing for my CISSP exam. I finally took the 6 hour exam but I'm not very confident so please pray for me my friends.
Anyways... just doing some catch-up now. Here is a pic taken of some lovely clouds during lunch last Wed. Had "Fish Hor Fun" from the newly completed Tiong Bahru Market. Check out how spacious and spanking new the renovated hawker centre is.

Galaxy of stars
Nobody beats Nike when it comes to ads. Its strange becoz Adidas does have a strong stable of stars contracted to them so I'm surprised that they haven't done better than Nike in the marketing department.
Their latest campaign is pretty good but one of few from them. Here is a sample of who they have on their roster. The superstar names just roll off my tongue... Kahn, Defoe, Gerrard, Lampard, Kaka, Beckham, Ballack, Platini, Messi, Riquelme, Zidane, Robben, Beckenbauer, Koeman, Zico, Cisse... the list is endless!!! They even have token Asian footballers like Cha Do Ri.

Amusing
I love Nike. Its probably the only brand that I'm loyal to. They were having a sale at B.I.R.D. as part of the GSS so I decided to pop in to see if there were any bargains. Couldn't help but be amused at the sign* they had up. Didn't buy anything though.
