I have this acquaintance who always wants to prove he is better than me. When I say that I want to do something... he will reply that he has done it already. If I say that I know something... he will declare that he is better than me. He is also constantly forcing his opinions on me. Dude... I'm not competing with you!!!
And I thought I was insecure? This guy appears to be even more so.

Why don't you tell him you want to climb the everest or something crazy like that. see if he takes the bait and get him off your back for a while. :p
