Its been awhile since I've been to Founder Bak Kut Teh restaurant. Hmmmm... eating it today reminded me what I've been missing all this while. The sky was gorgeous on the way home.

Best Rojak in Singapore
This stall serves the best Rojak in Singapore. It is so popular that you have to take a queue number before you can get your hands on their savory food. Hmmmm... check out their unique thick sauce. Where do you find this stall? It is located at Old Airport Road Food Centre. A note though... it has been temporarily relocated to a temporary market.

Further evidence
My Macbook has only 512MB RAM and I thought of upgrading it to 1GB. Went to the Apple shop today to enquire about how much a piece of 512MB RAM costs and was flabbergasted to find out from talking to their salesperson that my Macbook comes default with 2 pieces of 256MB RAM. What's the problem some of you may be wondering? Well, the Macbook has only two memory slots... meaning that I have to fork out S$258 for two pieces of 512MB RAM!!! WTF!!! That's ridiculous because I felt that the laptop should have come with a single piece of 512MB RAM. They are forcing customers to either buy two pieces of 512MB RAM or a single 1GB RAM. I'm more convinced than ever that they are out to scam us consumers!!!

The best things in life are free?
It seems to be the case for firewalls. A test conducted by security researchers concluded that free firewalls outperformed commercial ones. So no more excuses for not installing a firewall on your home desktop/laptop folks.

Further evidence of globalisation. No wonder the U.S.A is no longer the dominant force in Basketball.

Anaconda Air Force Ones!
Extracted from Ben Gordon's blog.
"Recently I got a new pair of anaconda Air Force Ones, made in Italy from real anacondas, you know, the snakes. They retail at like $2,000. All white. I guess they must have dyed the skin. They’re mean and vicious. These are low top, regular walking sneakers. I don’t wear them to the game or play in them. They’re an extremely limited, exclusive edition that Nike put out. At that price, they’re for people that really, really love to collect shoes. Since I’m a Nike guy, they know what I like, so they sent me a pair. That’s how it usually works. Or if I find out about a product first, I’ll ask them about it. But I haven’t worn the anacondas yet. I usually like to put them away until I find the right moment to bring them out. You don’t want to be introducing an exclusive pair like these just to go to the corner store. You have to do it right."
Woah!!!

Uniquely Singapore
I was asked what's unique about Singapore. The first thing that came to mind was coffee shops. I love them and would choose them over restaurants.

The Dance Floor
Strange... I've bumped into two judges of "The Dance Floor" since the series started. Wonder when I will bump into Li-Lin and Gladys?

PG
I've always wanted to be a point guard (PG) but my ball handling skills leave a lot to be desired. Jason Kidd is one of the best in the business and he's the king of triple doubles amongst active players. Watch him throw a "sick" behind the back pass for Vince Carter to score an open 3 pointer. How about Steve Nash handing out 18 dimes? The reigning two time MVP... will he win a third in a row?

A walk down memory lane
It has been 10 years since I was first posted to Pasir Laba camp. It was nostalgic going back there today. The place and its surrounding vicinity has changed so much over the years. And guess what!!! I even got a chance to sit in a non-air conditioned bus. Woah... I thought those were extinct. Old memories are all coming back to me now.

Character
It saddens me when famous food centres lose their character after they get renovated. I visited Newton Circus last Saturday and was shocked that the whole place had changed. Tiong Bahru food centre has also been revamped. Their old selves were old, hot and dirty but that was part of their charm and uniqueness. Now they all look generic and the same.
Enhance your memory
Was passing by the carpark downstairs when I noticed a taxi that had a baby cradle on top of it. The taxi driver was going to enter the car without keeping the cradle. Wanted to remind him to keep it when I noticed the slogan "Enhance your memory" at the side of the cab! Talk about clever advertising... it was actually a gimmick to promote some supplements ;p

Low crime does not mean no crime
Jos was just recounting a recent incident when she and her friend were walking along Orchard Rd outside the Istana at 3am. A guy ran up behind them and grabbed her friend's handbag. He ran off and Jos chased after him but could not catch up with him. The robber got caught because the area that they were robbed was under video surveillance.
In hindsight, Jos admitted that she was foolish to chase after the criminal because he could have harmed her. I agreed but it was probably a natural reaction. My advice? Mentally remind yourself to let the criminal have your belongings. You can always work hard and earn back what you lost. If you get hurt, there is no reversing that and it is something that you will regret for the rest of your life.

Rhapsody
rhap·so·dy
n. pl. rhap·so·dies
Strange coincidence... I just bought "Go-the very best of Moby Remixed" from a shop in Holland V called "Rhapsody Records" this afternoon. I tell you... Moby is bloody brilliant. He's making tons of $ from his albums and becoz of his commercial success, a lot of his songs are used for TV commercials. The latest one is "In my heart" which is the theme in the current Nokia campaign.
n. pl. rhap·so·dies
1. Exalted or excessively enthusiastic expression of feeling in speech or writing.
2. A literary work written in an impassioned or exalted style.
3. A state of elated bliss; ecstasy.
4. Music A usually instrumental composition of irregular form that often incorporates improvisation.
5. An ancient Greek epic poem or a portion of one suitable for uninterrupted recitation.
Watched "American Rhapsody" last nite. It is based on a true story of a Hungarian girl who was separated from her family when Stalin and communism gripped the country. She was only reunited with her family years later in the U.S. where they were now residing but she never felt at home there. It stars a young Scarlett Johansson before she was famous.Strange coincidence... I just bought "Go-the very best of Moby Remixed" from a shop in Holland V called "Rhapsody Records" this afternoon. Lazy Good Friday
Dunk-a-thon
What can I say? I love dunks! Its becoz an "Average Joe" like me can't and its amazing watching ballers display their athletic prowess. Highlight reels of star players' top 10 dunks.
Kobe Bryant "KB8" aka "KB24". It does help that he plays for my fav team, The Lakers. Will they retire number 8 or 24 when they do decide to honour him for his part in winning three rings?
Lebron James "The King" aka "LBJ". He gave Tim Duncan a "facial". Will he ever win a ring?
Scottie Pippen. He was renown as a great defender and Jordan's sidekick. Don't remember him as a dominant dunker.
Shawn Kemp "The Reign Man". Monster player whose dominance was heading to the basket. Isn't rocket science why he got that nickname.

"Electrocuted"
Been going for physiotherapy and every week its been the same treatments. Today however, the therapist did something different. He used a machine that channels electric currents to treat my back. It was a very unique experience feeling the waves of electricity on my lower back. It was at times almost like someone massaging my back. Hmmmmmm.

Freaksville
Singapore is starting to become freaky. There is this guy in my office who likes to laze around the lounge area during lunch time. YF and I call him "Fartster" becoz he likes to fart with wild abandonment even though he knows that there are people close to him.
I noticed recently that there are a lot of beggars nowadays. Not baskers but beggars who sit and wait for donations. I don't recall seeing this many beggars in the past or any at all.
Then there are the freaks who do weird things in public. Just this morning, there was this queer lady who was blasting oldies and singing along. She murdered Joshua Kadison's "Jesse" in the train during her "performance".
What the hell is going on?

Reason not to buy white shoes
Wore my new Rips today. Got a huge stain on one side while playing ball. Doh! Anyone knows how to remove it?
On the topic of Bball, anyone interested in joining me for ball on Sunday evenings? The number of bball kakis is shrinking.
