Lesson NOT learnt!!!

First it was rootkits in CDs and now rootkits in USB sticks!!! Sony didn't learn their lesson after all. Since the Sony CD debacle in November 2005, I have since boycotted Sony products. I'm definitely not letting anyone stick their Sony USB sticks into my PCs and laptops.
Besides the risk of rootkits in USB sticks, there's also the social engineering aspect to compromising computers. There was an instance where auditors placed a Trojan Horse into USB sticks and dropped them off at selected areas of the company they were auditing. Of the 20 USB drives "deposited", 15 were picked up by employees and plugged into their PCs without any hesitation. Understand why USB ports need to be secured now? User awareness only gets you so far. More needs to be done to counter stupidity.
